Lighting up the streets with an addictive colour mix
26 year old Alex Wiltshire with his unmistakably striking Nissan 180sx.
Through using his ‘hands-on’ techniques and love for LED modifications, Alex has put his stamp on transforming the darkest of roads into a lit up ‘haven’ of high-tech JDM passion.
So where did it all begin? Exactly where most JDM enthusiasts can relate. An obsession of Manga, Anime and sheer admiration for the golden era that is Nineties Japan. Whether it was reading Initial-D, or learning about the Tokyo expressway and the Mountain Touge…the legendary spirit of Japanese car culture inspired Alex to delve straight into the world of Japanese car culture.
This passion, combined with his love for LEDs, lighting up his home with everything from his PC to his bike, the colourful transformation of 180sx was certainly on the agenda. Alex took his knowledge and devotion to customise his car into a colour changing palette of neon brilliance.
The 1998 180sx to this day is not only a thing of beauty, but also a marker of unknown curiosity. “People say they stopped making turbo manuals in 1997…but this one begs to differ! This was made in Dec, 1998, the last year of production. …a real conversation starter!”
The car spent most of its life in Kochi, occasionally travelling north for a few trips to Tokyo. Alex keeps the Japanese nostalgia alive with a load of multi-storey tickets, fuel receipts that came stuffed in the sun visor along with a very JDM mixtape!

“This one’s a forever car”
As for the future of the car, Alex claims “It will forever be a work in progress, where I’ll continue to enjoy and eventually restore and preserve.” This is not a ‘perfection’ model, this car is to be driven and enjoyed not only for the driver, but for the JDM community and the streets alike.
